Restorative Yoga, Thai Compresses & Reflexology

 

Relax, stretch and leave this class feeling pampered! This 75 minute restorative session offers a series of  yoga poses (mostly floor work) supported by bolsters, blankets and props. Each asana is held for approximately 5 minutes, allowing for a slow, steady stretch. Within the poses, Shanna will offer steam heated thai herbal compresses on specific areas of the body, followed by foot reflexology. Thai herbal compresses can help reduce stress, promote relaxation, reduce inflammation and stiffness and improve circulation. No previous yoga experience required.

Quieting the Mind and Aligning your Chakras

Start the new year with a focus on compassion and kindness towards yourself. Join Shanna Breton and Cheryl Horton for a 5-week mindfulness course starting January 16th that focuses on quieting the mind and balancing the chakras.

Each session will include a short meditation, gentle yoga, and wellness tools to carry you through the week. Class size is limited to provide personalized support for your individual needs.

Do you ever get really tired of hearing all the negative thoughts and chatter in your mind? Does it seem as though your brain is constantly "on" and you just can't shut it down? Do you worry about what you should be doing or even what you should be worrying about? Does your body just feel out of energetic alignment?

So how do we cut through the noise and chatter in our busy minds to find peace?

Join Cheryl & Shanna for this 5 week course where you will learn about how powerful our thoughts and emotions are in shaping our daily realities, and how we can become more aware of their impact through quieting our minds and aligning our systems.

Week 1 we will be working hard to meet those thoughts in our heads and learn to send them away. Through writing and gentle yoga we will enter a peaceful state where we can rid ourselves of the noise that over takes us.

Weeks 2-5 we will continue to focus on our chakras through yoga and the addition of essential oils to support our bodies. Balancing our chakras can also enhance your life force, energy, creativity, assertiveness and independence, ability to love and be compassionate, ability to speak the truth, and a connection to the universe and your own spirit.

Join us to discover how to quiet the mind and align your chakras, as well as releasing stuck and negative energy.

In addition to all of this we will journal, align through yoga, meditate, enjoy raw food, learn about specific oils and give you an actual plan to integrate this practice into our everyday lives. You will leave with practical tools and a plan of action!

Restorative Yoga & Acupuncture

Eliminate stress and anxiety with this 45 minute restorative yoga class with Shanna Breton. Shanna's Restorative Yoga class is focused on easing and supporting the nervous system and settling the mind, while relaxing into the stretch. It is suitable for all levels of experience. Restorative Yoga uses fewer poses, mostly floor work, and prolonged holding – about 3 to 5 minutes each. Focusing on calming, gentle stretching, and heart-opening postures, this class allows us to settle softly into the pose and will guide us toward bringing compassionate awareness to the body. Bolsters, blankets, eye pillows, and props are used and supplied within the studio.
Following yoga, Lauren Breau of L/A Community Acupuncture for will offer acupuncture to each individual while in a comfortable relaxed position. Acupuncture can be specifically helpful for individuals with stress, mood,  anxiety and depression. Thin sterile needles will be placed in specific points from the elbows to the hands and the knees to the feet.

Maureen has been battling lung and breast caner for more than 5 years.. Join us as we all support, love and have fun with her and our family! Register in advance to participate in corn hole tournaments $20 per team of 2, by calling or texting Kendra at (207)740-6618 or Adam (207) 754-1236. A $10 dollar donation is welcomed for those who wish to. There will be a pig roast, burgers, several side dishes and treats. Enjoy live music by Phil Fortier a silent auction and raffles!!! The evening will feature an hour session of Restorative Yoga, led by Poise owner, Shanna Breton. This class will be followed by a one hour workshop on compassion and self-acceptance, led by Ilse Thompson.

After Shanna's Restorative Yoga, Ilse will offer a workshop on compassion and self-acceptance practices, focusing on approaches to treating ourselves with the same generosity of spirit and lovingkindness we extend to others. Compassion is the cornerstone of Buddhist philosophy, and we often forget to include our own selves among all beings who are worthy of it. Ilse will also offer a guided compassion meditation focused on holding ourselves gently, with curiosity and kindness.

Shanna Breton RYT, Studied at Shiva Shakti School of Yoga and is passionate about her contined learning of yoga and what it has to offer. She has a genuine interest for teaching various yoga classes, thai bodywork and foot reflexology.

Ilse Thompson is working toward lay Buddhist chaplaincy, with MA in Buddhist Studies from Matripa College in Portland, Oregon, where she studied Tibetan meditation practices and philosophy.

Zen Night Out!

Are you in need of Zen Night out? Here is your chance to step away from stress and make time for you! 

Poise Yoga Studio & Foot Sanctuary is excited to partner up for an evening of Zen! Carol Chabot from Meraki Skin and Belinda Peabody, Certified Reiki Master and light worker join Shanna, owner of Poise,  to offer you a deeply relaxing session of pampering! The evening will begin with simple and calming breathing exercise, while in a comfortable and supportive lying position. All clients will have their feet elevated and supported by bolsters for this evening of pampering and blankets will be offered for comfort. Carol will treat your skin with a  scalp and facial massage, and a mini facial. Shanna will relax each client with heated thai herbal compresses on the lower legs and feet, followed by foot reflexology. Belinda will bring it all together with a wonderful reiki treatment for balance of mind, body and spirit! This 90 minute session will allow you to experience all three services. Expect  total relaxation and stress reduction from head to toe! We will be incorporating essential oils for the benefits of relaxation. Please wear comfortable yoga-like clothing.

Finally, there will be time for questions and discussion. This short workshop will offer us a fundamental understanding of mindfulness practice and the essential tools we need to bring this spacious practice into daily life.
